Business cards or networking cards were something that I prioritized following Student Government elections in 2022, especially with the transition from Student Council and various external networking opportunities that we would be poised to partake in. Plus, it’s always a nice to have in formal occasions where you have to introduce yourself.
I soon came to the realization that such an idea, that is students (especially undergraduate) getting business cards, was something that had never been done before other than our research center assistants here at Mason Korea. Then came the process of going to leadership and our offices, asking whether this would be a possibility.
Thankfully, everyone, including our leadership, Human Resources, and University Life, was incredibly supportive throughout the process, which I sincerely thank them for. As it turns out, the business cards which we got after two months or so were very helpful in future meetings that we attended.
These business cards now are an extension of our expanded professionalism that comes with being a full-fledged (or soon-to-be full-fledged) Student Government. These changes will take some time to implement and to get used to for everyone involved, but are necessary for us to further our autonomy and responsibilities as student representatives.
